Lia Rose Place was born on July 29, 2009. I was admitted to the hospital the night before when I came into triage having contractions. The contractions were not consistent, so at 8:30 am on the 29th the doctor broke my water and induced me. The nurse said it would probably be late afternoon or early evening when we had our baby. At noon Mom asked when they would check my dilation and the nurse said she could check it now. We got a bit of a surprise. The nurse could already see the top of Lia's head. Charles and John had gone to lunch, so Mom had to call them to get them back to the hospital. Thirty minutes after Charles got there he was cutting the umbilical cord on our baby girl.
Both Charles and Mom were in the delivery room with me. They said the moment she came out she was looking around. She was very alert and holding her head up from the beginning.
In the waiting room awaiting her arrival were, John, Grandpa, Grandma, Matmon and Hannah. Poor Rachael, she had to leave right before the nurse checked me. She was very disappointed, but she came up later that night to see her.
What an amazing day that was.
